Frequently asked questions
What can you repair? We repair small wooden furniture, small electricals, small mechanical items, clocks, watches, IT equipment, jewellery, ceramics, clothing, bikes and toys. But we are not be able to repair microwaves.
Is there parking? Some free parking is available outside Highbury Hall.
How long should I allow? You’ll need to stay with your items throughout, as we don’t offer a drop-and-collection service. It will depend on the nature of the repair as to how long it will take. It’s best to allow plenty of time.
Do you have spare parts? Occasionally, spare or replacement parts are required to make repairs. You will need to source and pay for these. If you know an item requires a replacement part, make sure you bring it with you. Some parts can be purchased on the day from Tenterden High Street. Webbs sells most things!
Do you charge? Our repair service is free. If you’d like to make a donation you can give cash, donate online via the QR code on reception or via the donate button on this page.
Can I bring more than one thing? You can bring multiple items for repair. We will try to fix as many items as possible.
Can I learn how to make a repair? We encourage you to sit with your repairer as they mend your item so you can learn how to make simple repairs.
What if you can’t fix my item? Our team will do their very best to repair your items. If they are not able to do so, they will provide recommendations and next steps.
Are you taking work away from local businesses? We aim to re-ignite a culture of repair in Tenterden, providing simple repairs and upskilling local people while we work. We regularly refer visitors to local businesses, like Webbs, for spare parts and to specialist repairers for more complex repairs. If you run a local repair business, we’d love to know about you so we can refer people to you. Please contact us.
Can I donate an item? We are not able to accept donations at this time.
Can I join the team? If you’d like to join the repair or reception volunteer team, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch.
